The Deeper Learning online course was designed to give teachers, school leaders, and other educators the tools needed to introduce deeper learning and understanding in their schools and classrooms. “Deeper Learning” is meant as a way to introduce techniques into classes that will enhance the student experience and understanding of subjects by implementing changes in how they’re taught and listened to. The course features a number of video discussion panels, which take place between education professionals and former course participants, as they discuss various aspects of the course.

The course provides a detailed look at a different aspect of what deeper learning is every week. And then provides a number of resources to help illustrate the importance it plays in improving the classroom experience. The course is designed to be completed over a total of roughly 30 hours of work, over a period of nine weeks, with nine “put it into practice” activities moments that encourage course participants to implement deeper learning into their life.

The Deeper Learning MOOC was originally offered by the High Tech High Graduate School of Education through the Deeper Learning website. It was written and created by Lou Barrios, Michelle Sadrena Clark, Ben Daley, Karen Fasimpaur, Ryan Gallagher, Laura McBain, Edrick Macalaguim, Asal Mirzahossein, Rob Riordan, Philipp Schmidt, Azul Terronez, Emilio Torres. When originally offered, course participants joined thousands of other learners to learn the lessons offered in this MOOC. The course was designed to highlight the benefits Deeper Learning can bring into the classroom.

The version that appears on this site is an archived version of that course, that allows you to still take and learn from it without the original offering method. Unlike the original course, however, this course will not include collaborative learning unless you, the course participant, integrate your own peers into the experience. In other words, this course design is meant to be completed by you with only the documents available in the archive. This database includes 39 videos, 55 activities, 139 documents.
