DJ was born and raised in northern New Jersey and has spent the last 10 years working in NYC public schools, first as a City Year AmeriCorps member in a south Brooklyn high school and most recently as a network director for a charter management organization. DJ is most experienced in tutoring & mentoring, social emotional learning, small group personalized & blended learning, school leadership, critical pedagogy/theory, school model design, and systems leadership. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University where he earned a BA in Economics and is currently a New School Creation Fellow at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education where he will also be earning a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership.
DJ is very excited to join the High Tech Middle Mesa community and looks forward to collaborating with an amazing group of students, educators, and families! DJ enjoys playing video games, watching good (and bad) television and film, reading / learning / discussing new ideas, and occasionally forcing himself to be more physically active!
